Community Engagement / Development Worker

Are you looking to make a real difference for the local community?
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic individual to lead on engaging the local community in the area around Hainworth Wood Community Centre and develop and deliver a programme of community-based activities to meet the needs of local residents in line with the objectives of the charity.

We’re looking for someone who:
Is a self-starter and loves working with people.
Has a can-do attitude,
Is passionate about making a difference
Is able to demonstrate an approach to work that is proactive.
Is great at problem solving
Has excellent communication skills
Able to achieve targets and deadlines

You have demonstrated impact through your work or volunteering in a community setting and have at least 2 years’ experience in such a role. You would like to help develop and grow the work of a community centre in Keighley East.

New Chair appointed

We are delighted to welcome Tamara Priestley as the new Chair of Hainworth Wood Community Centre. Tamara lives locally and is excited about the new role. She is keen to meet local residents and ensure the centre remains a welcoming place for everyone.

What’s on this summer at HWCC?

There are activities for families with children. We will also be keeping some of our regular activities going for our older residents.

 

Summer Fair Saturday 15th July 11am-1pm: Join the fun

The Hainworth Wood Community Centre SUMMER FAIR will be on Saturday 15th July from 11am until 1pm. Come down and join in the fun with tombola, raffle, and games. There will be refreshments and a range of crafts, books and plants for sale.  Bring cash and invite your friends and neighbours to join you.

Would you be interested in becoming a trustee?

Local community centre in Keighley East needs you…

Would you like to get more involved at Hainworth Wood Community Centre? We are looking for people to join us as trustees and someone who can take a lead as our new Chair.

We are a local charity that runs a community centre in Keighley East. Since reopening last year we run a regular programme of activities for all ages including a parent and toddler group, an after-school club, luncheon club, exercise classes, café and IT and cooking courses. We have plans to start to offer more activities in future and host more courses and services at the centre. We have recently appointed a community development and engagement worker.

Trustees

Hainworth Wood Community Centre is also looking for new people to join the Board of Trustees. Trustees are responsible for running the charity and all aspects of finances and operations. We usually meet every 4-6 weeks for a formal meeting.

Trustees are also expected to get involved as a volunteer at other times. We are looking for people who are:

  • committed to the local community and the mission of HWCC
  • have skills and experience relevant to running a community centre and being a trustee
  • an interest in and willingness to get involved in one or more aspect of the centre’s activities
  • in particular have marketing and communications skills and/ or fundraising and grant writing.

Chair

We are also specifically looking for someone to take over as Chair of the Board of trustees. This person in addition to the skills required for being a trustee will also have:

  • excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • knowledge of charity governance and the legal requirements on charities/ trustees
  • able to gain respect from a diversity of stakeholders and community members

We will provide support and induction to the role. We are looking for up to 2 people to join the Board initially for 3 years. If you are interested and would like to find out more please get in touch via hello@hainworthwoodcommunitycentre.org.uk for more information before noon Friday 23 June.
